Ancient History

   The most unfortunate set of circumstances attributed to the knowledge of pre-historic events appears to be simple human ignorance - a likely excuse for the continued exile of truth. As will soon become evident, a most prolific legacy of  personal dispositions continue to haunt the matrix of ancient history - a factual record of the past.
   Why were navigators once told the world was flat? And that by venturing too far out to sea they would inevitably meet with oblivion? Was it to prevent people from discovering other lands? Other cultures? Or other religious beliefs that might ultimately threaten [not to mention expose] the leading establishment? Well - if this senerio were actually the case - then perhaps the leading establishment must have known [and probably did know] all along that the earth was, in fact, round.
   The foregoing scenario reminds me about a movie called "Planet of the Apes" where it was definitely known at the highest levels of government exactly what had happened in the past. Information about that past, however, was reserved for a select few individuals and kept secret from the major populace. Not only were people in power aware of the past, but the mutilated remains of that past could not altogether be removed. Instead, evidence had to be quarantined and the area surrounding it forbidden!
   The reason for suppression in the movie "Planet of the Apes" appeared to echo a simple fact. Simply, it would have severely undermined the leading authority [and credibility] of the person in power at the time if the major populace were to discover ancient truth. What happened in the movie "Planet of the Apes" was that persons from the past [most unexpectedly] had returned to earth! Persons who naturally challenged the leading establishment with the very truth that that establishment had tried so very hard to conceal. Unfortunately, such persons were either exterminated or exiled from society. Other persons who had come to learn the truth were told by authorities that they had better keep quiet.
   Today, the people responsible for nearly every highly advanced ancient civilization on earth have - according to leading academic authorities - either declined or disappeared without a trace. Examples include: the Sumerians, the Egyptians, the Mayans and the old Indus Valley peoples of India. The same could be said for the technologically advanced ancient ancestors of people from nearly any country in the world today. Amid the towering pyramids and giant monoliths covering the globe today, the technology and the responsible cultures have, for the most part, been declared missing. [E.M.]
